On Thursday, an off-duty Los Angeles Police Officer was arrested on suspicion of DUI after a traffic collision in Glendale. Ramon Muniz, 44, was driving when he hit another vehicle at the intersection of Sinclair Avenue and Chevy Chase Drive. According to the Glendale Police Department, the two-vehicle collision occurred around 1:30 P.M. on Thursday. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Both drivers cooperated with authorities.
According to Glendale Police Sgt. Dan Suttles, officers later visited Muniz’s home and “from what they were observing, they (the officers) thought the motorist may have been intoxicated.”
Suttles further stated that the officers performed a sobriety test on Muniz, who was arrested shortly after on suspicion of drunken driving and taken into custody. According to Suttles, it was not immediately known if Muniz was still in custody as of Thursday evening.
Field sobriety tests are often used by law enforcement to assess if a citizen is intoxicated.
