As you wave goodbye to your child for the day and they run up to their bus, not many parents wonder if the driver has had a few too many. Most parents would assume that the driver would “know better,” but anything can happen. In California, a school bus driver was charged with driving under the influence while also endangering 28 children. It was said by a spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol that the driver was “obviously intoxicated.” The reason for the “endangerment” charge? While trying to make a U-turn, the bus got stuck on a narrow and dirt road and blocked the oncoming traffic. Officers on the season said alcohol could be smelled on her breathe while she was also “acting” intoxicated.
