Teen Driver Faces Dui

|

A Walnut Creek car crash left two teenage men dead and two young women injured. The driver faces serious charges including DUI and manslaughter.

A vigilant was held outside John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, for two young women badly injured in a terrible car crash early Sunday morning.

The crash killed Dakarai Rishon Fagorala, 17, and John Hamed Walizada,18, after the car they were riding in veered off Highway 24 near Interstate Highway 680, sheriff’s officials said.

The car was reduced to a twisted piece of metal.

The driver, Ramya Ramey, 18, of Antioch, was arrested on suspicion of felony manslaughter for killing two passengers and multiple felony DUI counts for injuring two other passengers, according to the California Highway Patrol.

“Everyone needs to be held up in prayer,” said the driver’s cousin, Anisha Hackney. “Sending good thoughts. Can’t imagine what pain families are experiencing right now.”

The two male passengers were pronounced dead at the scene. Ramey and the two other female passengers, from Antioch and Oakley, all suffered major injuries and were still hospitalized as of Monday morning, according to the CHP.

“This is an underage drinking and driving collision which could have been prevented,” said a CHP spokesperson. “Just an awful situation for everybody.”
