Woman Suspected of DUI Dances on Car

|

Law enforcement officers say a Reno, Nevada woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence on Saturday, December 2. 27-year-old Sabra Bewley drove south down a highway on the northbound lanes in the city of Sparks, Nevada. Police answered a call for a wrong-way driver and discovered Bewley’s Jeep Cherokee approximately 20 yards up a hill off the highway.

Officers reported Bewley was acting abnormally and dancing on top of her Cherokee before attempting to flee the scene on a kid’s scooter. She fought with a Sparks officer and a Nevada Highway Patrol trooper as they tried to detain her.

Police later detained Bewley and escorted her to a hospital before she was taken to Washoe County jail. She was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, trafficking MDMA, destruction of property, driving under the influence, and resisting arrest.

Driving under the influence of drugs has essentially the same legal effect as driving under the influence of alcohol. Testing for drugs must be administered using a blood test, since breath tests analyze blood-alcohol content, not the presence of drugs in the system.
