Criminal Defense Attorney Gets Dui

|

I can tell you first-hand that some attorneys work hard and play hard. Unfortunately, however, I can also tell you that some attorneys are also prone to alcohol abuse as the result of the stresses of the job. Whether the drinking is to blow off steam or to deal with the stresses of dealing with the problems of others, attorneys too sometimes make the mistake of driving drunk.

Prominent criminal defense attorney, Scott Rosenblum of Missouri, recently made such a mistake.

The attorney drove his 2013 Bentley into oncoming traffic and crashing head-on with a 2001 Toyota Tundra pickup. The driver of the truck was taken to the hospital for minor injuries and both vehicles were towed from the scene. According to Brentwood police Maj. James McIntyre, Rosenblum was then arrested for driving while intoxicated and careless and imprudent driving.

Just hours prior, Rosenblum had convinced a jury to acquit his client who was accused of molesting a child while intoxicated.  Following the victory, he and his client went their separate ways. Following dinner with his family, Rosenblum headed back to his office to prepare for another case. He was heading home when he crashed.

“All I can say is that I was totally, physically and emotionally exhausted after putting in 15- to 16-hour workdays for a week,” Rosenblum said. “I made a mistake driving that tired,” the attorney told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “I was certainly tired. I was absolutely exhausted.”

Rosenblum, however, would not say whether he had been drinking.

Rosenblum’s partner at his firm, who will also be representing him in the DUI case, issued the following statement to the public.

“My Law Partner Scott Rosenblum was involved in an automobile accident at midnight last night.

Neither party suffered any injury.

Scott had just successfully acquitted Mr. Hughes after a jury trial that lasted well over a week. The hours of preparation and exhaustion that followed was certainly a factor that contributed to the accident.

John P. Rogers, Attorney for Scott Rosenblum”
